Another Shirt

As mentioned in an earlier post one of my good friends got engaged. Naturally, we had to go out and celebrate! My crafty ass couldn't just go out though. Oh no. I had to make sure everyone knew why we were drinking our faces off! ha. So I made her a shirt. I think it was rather clever.

Sorry about the junky pictures. The next few posts will have them. Mainly because taking pics was a total after thought and I ended up doing it with my cell.

St. Patricks Day

For St. Patrick's Day me and my friends go to Philly for something called the Erin Express. It's basically a big bar crawl andyou get taken from bar to bar by what else, but big yellow school buses! Sounds fun right?! Oh, it is!
My friends saw this shirt and fell in love:

Cute right? Sadly, we saw the short too late and there was no way to get it in time.

Okay, now heres a secret. I'm a little bit of a closet crafter. Aside from here, my friends know I craft, but I dont think they understand that I can do some pretty cool ish. So when I suggested I'll make it, they kinda laughed me off. Anyways, I SHOWED THEM!!

Finished the Dresser!

If you remember the dresser I decided to finish even though it was being a pooper, I kept my word! I actually liked the way it turned out. It was cute. And that annoying, uncooperative top, ended up being my favorite part. Here are pictures!

Dresser Refinish

There was an old dresser in my grandpa's old bedroom. It was made of laminate and pressboard and was pretty much a P.O.S. The family wanted to chuck it but I decided this would be a great play piece for me that I could store my craft crap in. Now I KNOW you need to prime this ish before you paint it, but the thing will sit in the basement and basically I wasn't looking to spend ANY money. So I just had at it.

I forgot to take a before pic, so i took one as sooon as i remembered.

As you can see I went with white. Look at the streaks. Gonna need a ton of coats!

Then I decided to mod podge the top with a shopping bag that I loved the pattern on. So I cut it up and stuck it on. BUBBLES AND RIPPLES GALORE!

After seeing this I was annoyed. Like rip it off and throw the thing out the window annoyed. Then i realized ... Eff it. Its gonna end up in my basement anyway. So what if their are a few flaws. So i left it. And I WILL finish it. I think I may continue the awesome pattern with paint onto the white so it has a fading like effect. I am also planning on hand painting the front. I'm DREAMING BIG!!!!

Spur of the Moment Dry Erase Board

Months ago I went to a chinese auction and I won a gift card. It was presented to me in a junky dollar store frame and has been sitting around ever since. I painted it up, put construction paper in the frame,  played around with my Cricut (it was my first time ever cutting vinyl!), and ended up with this cute dry erase board.

I just wrote random things to show you how it looks. Hah. My dad doesn't actually smell like farts. Unless he farted, but thats another story!

Picture Frame re-do

I am always very critical of my work. I usually hate it in some way, and others tell me to "shut up", this time though, I have reason to be critical. It started when the frame on my desk at work took its last breath. I grabbed another frame and decided to make it a perfect frame to hold a picture of me and the boyfriend. Sadly, I wasn't happy with the turn out.

 I painted the whole frame white. This was where the error occurred. The paint job came out streaky and globby and overall just looked bad. I attempted to fix it with mod podge and items cut out with my Cricut but the final result ended up messy. If that wasn't bad enough I also wanted to transfer the metal letters i had on my other frame that said "Corey & Shaun." Sadly, somewhere in transport though, the U and N went MIA. I now have a frame that says "Corey & Sha" GREAAAAAT!

The last of the Christmas crafts

I'm sick of Christmas crafts. SICK SICK SICK! But I found another one in my archive and decided to post it. This will be the last. I PROMISE! One of my students gave me cookies and the tin came with  little wooden spoon attached to it. I took it off, painted it, and an ornament I have. Grab, paint, done!!

Candy Jars

So I see all these posts making these adorable candy dishes. One day I was bored and decided to candy dish it up. Those little wooden balls had to be the most expensive part of this project. They were over $1.00 a piece which shocked me a tad. Anyway, the fish bowl is from Dollar Tree and the terra cotta pot is from Michaels. I already had the paint, ribbon, and glitter. Oh, and I used E-6000 glue. I love that stuff! Anyway, here's the way they turned out....
P.S. I wanted to paint them slightly different than those I've seen before, so I tried a zebra print. Let me know how I did.

Cork Board TOTALLY redone!

So  I was walking down the hallway at school and one of the teachers was throwing away a double sided cork board. I couldn't figure out why it was double sided because how could you possible used both sides at once?! Anyways, it was a little beat up but I knew I could get some use out of it. It ended up sitting in my basement until I decided what I wanted to make- a message/cork/picture holder. 

Materials Needed:

- 16 bottle caps

-16 pushpins

-1 old junky cork board

-ribbon in your choice of colors

- buttons in your choice of colors and styles

- fabric to cover bottle caps

-Fabric to cover board (size depends on the size of your board)

- Deco Art Americana Acrylic Paint (I used Lamp (Ebony) Black and Calypso Blue)

-Glue gun

1) I started by removing the frame and covering the board with pink fabric. I hot glued it only on the back because hot glue dries hard and I knew if it was on the front the push pins wouldn't go through.

2) Next I ran striped of different colored ribbon diagonally up and down the board. I didn't measure this, just eyed it until I thought they looked even. Again, I only glued the ribbon in the back.

This is what the back looks like after its fully glued. You can put a piece of cardboard over it to cover the mess but I just hung it on the wall, because then you can't see it anyway.

3) I secured the intersections with colorful buttons. Each button got a small dot of hot glue and then I placed them where the ribbon intersected. This way the ribbon was taught enough to hold things, even though it was not glued down in the front. 

The polka dotted things are actually the pushpins. Keep reading to learn how to do them!

4) I then painted the frame that I removed with the Deco Art Lamp (Ebony) Black paint and allowed it to dry. I only used one coat. 

5) While the frame dried I started the push pins. Who wants a fancy board with ugly old pins? I cut the polka dot fabric into squares. Placed a bottle cap on top and hot glued the corners into the cap. Then using another dot of glue I glued the pin into the cap. (see photo below)

Here's a side view. You can see the pin sticks up past the cap so it can go into the board.

6) Now that the board was done I had to finish the frame. I scooped up a big glob of Deco Art Calypso Blue paint and went to town flinging it onto the black painted frame.  This can get really messy, so you may want to do it outside. It does give the project a great pop of color!

 7) Once it all dried I slid the board back in and hot glued it shut (seeing a pattern here?! I love HOT GLUE!). 

8) Finally, I made a bow out of purple ribbon and hot glued it on the top for a decorative touch.

Here's the finished product. I'm obsessed!!!!!
