Cakes

I've always idolized people who can work wit fondant and make incredible cakes. Usually my attempts are mediocre at best, but I think the challenge is so much fun. Recently it was my boyfriend's friends birthday and I was asked to make the cake. Not knowing how many people were going to be there I ended up making two just to be safe. One I got from Bake or Break, which if you havent seen her recipes I HIGHLY suggest you check em out. Every one Ive made from there has been orgasmic!  I made a chocolate glazed hazelnut mousse cake which got RAVE reviews! Making it would have been easy minus the fact that my springform pan broke in the process and i had batter pouring everywhere. Two hard wear clamps, a dad and mom, a cookie sheet, and an extra pan later, the cake was done! Oh and just a side note, hazelnuts are NOT easy to find! Who knew? Anyways heres a junky picture of a delightful dessert.

The second cake I made----dont hate me----a boxed cake. I know I know, but I work and just didnt have time to make it homeade. Plus I knew I was going to try to decorate it so awesome no one would even notice it was boxed.
Of course in the life of Corey nothing comes easily. My oven broke and it took 4 hours to cook what should have been a 30 minute cake. UGH. But it was done. One blue cake and one green cake (dyed with food coloring) stacked on top of each other and iced. FONDANT TIME!
I didn't want to cover the cake in fondant because I personally, dont like the taste. So instead I iced the cake and just decorated with it.
The person this was for is a HUGE fan of Lost. I never seen the show, have no idea what its even about, but I googled it and got a picture of something called the "Dharma Initiative"- whatever, I was gonna make it in fondant.
Lots of black food coloring later,  I had a pretty neato cake. Oh- FYI Jon is the birthday boy. I switched the word "Dharma" with his name. Hope that doesnt offend you Lost fans!

The computer was the pic I was going for.

I love the dollar store

Yes, yes it's true. The dollar store holds a very special place in my heart. At one point I was looking into making resin jewelry. I read that silicon molds were a good mold to you to create them. Well, of course the dollar store had them for super cheap. So around Easter I picked up a bunny mold for a buck. It was too cute to not use for candy though!! Don't worry the candy was the first use, NO RESIN touched these molds yet. Anyways, I made these adorable chocolates for my class. They Loved them!

Another Shirt

As mentioned in an earlier post one of my good friends got engaged. Naturally, we had to go out and celebrate! My crafty ass couldn't just go out though. Oh no. I had to make sure everyone knew why we were drinking our faces off! ha. So I made her a shirt. I think it was rather clever.

Sorry about the junky pictures. The next few posts will have them. Mainly because taking pics was a total after thought and I ended up doing it with my cell.

Isn't this cute though!?!?! LOVE IT!

Rings

Kim over at A Girl and A Glue Gun showed us Ric Rack Rings. She linked em to another site which showed a tutorial. I, fell in love. Made one, and wore it to school. We had a party that day, and one of the parents raved and raved about it. I literally took it off my hand, and gave it to her. It made her day. So finally, I made more. Only these didnt come out as well. You could see the hot glue. I dont know how to fix it. Maybe marker that matches?

See the glue?!

3 rings, all glue. YUCK!!!

On a side note, I just had to pull out 3/4 of the baby blanket Im making bc i realized that Ive been adding a stitch each row and it was getting wider and wider. I wish I noticed before I was like 30 rows in. Booo.

Collage

I saw these a lot around blog land and decided to make one. It was made using paint samples mod podged onto a canvas in collage form. Then using a dark varnish you paint it on, and wipe it off. This gets the colors in the crevices and gibes it an aged look.
My boyfriend works at Sherwin Williams. He easily got me paint samples.  I put this together months ago. STILLLLLL have yet to varnish it. Its on my to-do list i swear. So heres the half done collage. I will get it varnished and completed soon. I will I will I WILL!
Looks nifty though. Made an awesome background for some pics of other crafts. haha.

Advanced Crocheting?! I think not!

Mandy on Mandipity did an entire series on how to crochet. I tried, and failed most. She did post this one though, about how to make a flower. I tried. It came out mediocre. You could tell what it was, but it was nothing to write home about. I also crocheted a basic circle. Same result. So now I had these two mediocre crocheted things with NOTHING to do with. So, I made a bracelet/corsage thingie.
I glued the circle on top of the flower, then glued a crystal button on top.

Simple elastic (used to make skirts and what not) used to make the wrist band

Whala!

St. Patricks Day

For St. Patrick's Day me and my friends go to Philly for something called the Erin Express. It's basically a big bar crawl andyou get taken from bar to bar by what else, but big yellow school buses! Sounds fun right?! Oh, it is!
My friends saw this shirt and fell in love:

Cute right? Sadly, we saw the short too late and there was no way to get it in time.

Okay, now heres a secret. I'm a little bit of a closet crafter. Aside from here, my friends know I craft, but I dont think they understand that I can do some pretty cool ish. So when I suggested I'll make it, they kinda laughed me off. Anyways, I SHOWED THEM!!

Awesome!?! Yes I know I am. The girls were stoked. Look how happy she is!
(She WILL kill me for this!)

Learning to Crochet

Everyone around blog land has been posting these tutorials about how to crochet. Well, I suck at it. I did figure out how to do the single stitch though, so I kind of went to town. I know there are mistakes so go easy on me. Im learning.
Scarf I made. I adore the colors.

Close up.

Blanket I started. Its curling though. It basically looks like a big rainbow. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am also making a baby blanket for my friend but because I already posted the paintings, I'll save the blanket and post it after she gets it.

Cell Phone

My old cell was a piece of dookie. It was through verizon and it was just too expensive to get anything good. So i transfered to Virgin Mobile and crossed my fingers. Probably my BEST IDEA EVER. The service is amazing, the phone is awesome (got it for $80) and i get all the perks for $25 a month.

Went online bought a cover for $3.00. Naturally, I whipped out my cricut and made it my own!

Awesome new phone. Check out the awesome blood spatter background. Ahhh Dexter. LOL

Monogrammed in Glitz!!!

C is for Corey

Yay for Babies!!

Earlier this month my bestest friend found out she was pregnant! YAYYYYYYYY

Congrats Amanda and Kevin!!!!!!

Sadly, my Amanda moved to NC. I live in NJ. I miss her dearly, but that won't stop me from making this baby everything under the sun!!! So naturally, I've been crafting away.

I started with water colors of baby animals I thought would look adorable in any babies room. Then I found frames at AC Moore (I was gonna make em myself but they were on sale so I went for it!)

How cute will these looks in a nursery?!?

After framing

Who doesn't like to color?

Some of you may know I work at an extended day program in the mornings before school. The kids there eat breakfast, play games, do crafts, and color. Well, it can get boring because half of the time the kids are still half asleep. So many times I'll plop down next to them and start drawing. One day a student asked if they could color in my drawing. Then another, then another. Before i knew it I was making coloring sheets on the daily. It started with one or two, and now I'm up to about 30. I even started making licensed characters (shhhh dont turn me in to the officials). I eventually got so many I binded them up and created my own personal coloring book. Here are just a few pictures of the pages (30+ would totally overload this post). If you have any requests let me know, I love to draw when I'm bored, and I'd be happy to send it to you.

P.S.- I forgot to mention that people liked these coloring sheets and they are now being used throughout the entire school (for rainy day recess days) and even at some of the teacher's children's birthday parties! HOW EXCITING!

Alien

Squirrel

Cheshire Cat and the Rabbit

Bowser (The kids loveee Mario Bro. I did the whole crew!)

Forever and a Day

So I havent died. I'm alive and well and well, lazy. I have been doing things but the process of uploading them just seems so time consuming. So, like always I did a bunch of stuff and now I'll post like 45678 entries to document it all. You'll see, it was worth the wait.

I'll start with something simple and pretty and happy.

One of my great friends got ENGAGED TODAY!
I'm so excited for her. CONGRATS BRITTANY!!!

So naturally, being a good friend I got her a gift. Something small and dinky, BUT Oh does it look elegant. Pretty paper and a BIG cream colored bow just made this simple gift look awesome.

So to start my 90 entry rant, a beautiful, simple project- a wrapped gift.

For Japan....

As you all know Japan is going through a terrible time. Between natural disasters and nuclear reactors their homes have been lost, families have gone missing, and the devastation is unimaginable. The fabulous people over at Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged are stepping up in the blogging world to help out. They have organized this:

They have organized a day of silence within the blogging community and also they are collecting funds to donate to Shelterbox in order to help those in Japan.

So head on over to their sites for more information or to donate. They are really doing a great thing.

Kudos Ladies!
